My influences range from older work of famous people to work I find in the streets. I am an avid street art documenter. Through some of those works I am inspired to do something similar in my own work. I always find inspiration around me, as a graphic designer I am often found with scenarios of problems in which I start to navigate for solutions.
My vision academically is to continue learning in any way possible. Even at work I learn from my students. Learning continues in unexpected places, sometimes the most valuable lessons are learned there. Professionally I am not looking to take over with a big company or be super famous. I have some projects in mind to work on, which I hope can lead me to bigger opportunities. I would like to go to more local events to network with people.

It sounds like those kids are lucky to have you!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really exciting and interesting working with kids! I was fortunate to have a chance to experience with kids, when I took DAI 330 (Industrial Design Outreach.) We mentor students in Mission high school how to make a lamp. The whole project was really fun specially when you get to know the students and the students become your friends ☺
ReplyDeleteAww, reading your first paragraph made me miss working at an elementary school. I used to help out in a 2nd grade classroom and their imagination really is out of control, so fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see how your interest in street art influences your work this semester!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely children have an unstoppable creativity and imagination, sometimes I'd like to give them my projects to see what solution they come up with. Glad to know you will bring more smiles to them!

ReplyDeleteHi Ivonne, if I remember correctly you said in the library that you live in Oakland? Lots of street art murals and graffiti in the East Bay, I've lived here for about 4 years now. I wrote a research paper on graffiti a few years ago, if you ever want to talk about street art for your project feel free to reach out!
